About the event

The Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council wanted to know why Coloradans with I/DD and their families desired to live in intentional communities. They hired Desiree Kameka Galloway from Neuro-Inclusive Housing Solutions who partnered with IHC and the Autism Housing Network to conduct an in-depth analysis of institutional characteristics, regulatory precedence and gather direct feedback from stakeholders on what could be guardrails to prevent intentional communities from ever becoming institutional in nature.

Join us to explore the Intentional Communities Research Project’s key findings: national matrix of intentional communities, statewide mapping of the I/DD population, and data from Colorado stakeholders on institutional characteristics and motivators for intentional communities as a housing preference.

She’ll also unveil actionable policy recommendations informed by stakeholders and housing developers that empower neuro-inclusive, affordable intentional communities tailored to adults with I/DD and their families.

This project is supported by the Administration for Community Living of the Department of

Health and Human Services as part of Grant No. 2401COSCDD totaling $1,178,610.00, 100% from federal funding.
