Description:

Gratitude Village is a planned multigenerational, inclusive cohousing community in Brighton, Colorado, currently in the design phase and anticipated to include approximately 40–60 homes. The community is being designed around principles of accessibility, affordability, sustainability, and social connection, with a strong emphasis on neuro-inclusive design elements that support individuals with diverse sensory, cognitive, and mobility needs.

Proposed housing options include two-story townhomes, stacked flats, single-story cottage-style duplexes, and apartments or condominiums above garages or retail spaces, ranging from approximately 600 to 1,700 square feet with one to four bedrooms. Many homes are planned to incorporate universal design features, with fully accessible options available across multiple housing types. Final unit counts, layouts, and accessibility features will be determined through the ongoing community design process and collaboration with the City of Brighton.

Two founding families have neurodiverse family members consisting of an adult male with Autism Spectrum Disorder and an adult female with Anxiety Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. Three of the project’s “Exploring Families” have members with special needs.  

According to Suzie:  “I know the family from Texas would be delighted to speak with anyone who has questions. Their younger son, who is autistic, doesn't warm up to people typically and by the second day of our workshop, he was sitting very comfortably in the small room with 14 of us and has talked constantly at home about his new friends and how excited he is to live with us!”

Stage:

Pre-development. Land under contract to be closed Aug 19, 2026. Due Diligence underway and nearly complete. Common House and Private House design charrettes to be held in September and November respectively. Founding Members (those who have made a $15,000 equity deposit toward their future home) participate with our architects at StudioCoHab to design the Common House and Private Homes and then finalize the community design and layout.
